Update 7/26

Well, unfortunately no new fundraising in the past few days.

However, I did actually lead my first Training Walk (with one person-thank you Claudia!). It was 7 Miles through Tierrasanta (which means there were a lot of hills, etc.) We had a good time just chatting.

Early in the walk though, I stepped incorrectly off a curb and twisted my ankle pretty bad, which I didn’t realize until I woke up this morning. And, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t wearing the right kind of underwear while I walked yesterday, so there were some chaffing issues which are obviously bugging me now.

I’m supposed to train 6 more miles today, but I’m taking the “better safe than sorry” route and am instead going to wrap my ankle and do things around the house. It’s actually probably the chaffing that would make it harder to walk today, so I have to remember not to do that again.

If there’s any guys that are reading this, my suggestion is this-get some of the stretchy, no-bunching bike shorts for The Walk (and your Training Walks), and lubricate whatever you need to with that Body Glide (which is what I also use on my feet to try to avoid blisters).

Remember, Training Walks are not only to get you in the physical shape required to do the 3-Day, but they’re also for you to figure out what works and what doesn’t work as far as things such as socks, underwear, clothing, fanny pack vs. camelback backpack, etc. Don’t be like me last year and have to learn all of that during The Walk.
